Today I took Ella and a friend to the Tweed River Art Gallery and I just had to share a few images with you from one of the exhibitions that opened today: Sea Gardens by Ken Done.
In the words of the artist:
"Since I had my first mask and snorkel as a very young boy, I've been fascinated by the things that live and grow under the sea.
"It's such a joy to experience diving on a new reef somewhere in Australia or the Pacific - or visiting again a familiar coral head. Shimmering, darting, glowing, flickering fish; crusty, craggy, dotted, spotted coral. Underwater gardens teeming with life. Another world of constant inspiration."
The man knows colour like nobody's business and the new work on display is just beautiful. Perfect viewing for these hot summer days. The exhibition runs until Sunday, 3 March, 2013.
Have a great weekend, everyone. Stay cool!
x
Megan

I listened to an interview on ABC radio yesterday with Ken re his new works. The man is so interesting and rather captivating. His descriptions of underwater life were perfect, only better on canvas I bet...must get myself there. Ax
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I love those vibrant colours. Thanks for sharing. xK
ReplyDeleteI was so surprised and then not, that these works were Ken Done. Your absolutely right in the fact he knows colour so well. I actually really love these works of art, unfortunately I won't be able to see them unless they travel to Melbourne, however happy to enjoy them here ...:)
