Before we moved back home (after our stint living in the hills this year), I vowed to create a beautiful summer veggie garden when we got back. It would have basil. Lots and lots of basil, my favourite herb.
The cool summer we are experiencing has been on my side with the basil. There's plenty of it growing now, and none of it has bolted, yet. Happy.
It is such a simple thing: To walk out the back door, as I did last night, and pick a bunch of herb leaves to include in our evening meal. Simple, but so satisfying.

We are keeping everything pretty simple this Christmas. Home-cooked meals shared with friends and family; no major travelling this year; the presents we've gathered aren't excessive and I am looking forward to dividing my time between the beach and the garden with the little ones by my side. (If only they would actually stay by my side, especially at the beach!)
I'll still be around here over the Christmas/New Year period ...dropping in regularly to amuse you with examples of my new-to-me i-phone obsession, no doubt! A summer photo series is brewing, I feel...
I mostly wanted to say, today: Thank you all so much for visiting the blog this year.
Wishing you all special times ahead with your own gang this holiday season.

Hi Megan,
Sounds like a lovely way to spend your christmas. It's so wonderful that you've been able to get the garden going as you hoped! I am keeping a close eye on my little basil plants, urging them to keep growing.
