Synchronise v. to (cause to) occur at the same time, or coincide or agree in time. – Macquarie Dictionary.

Yesterday I hadn’t intended my creative space post to be about vintage canisters. I had intended that I would tell you about my endeavours to do a spot of lino-cutting. It has been in my mind for a little while now to do some lino-printing, something I haven’t done for, oh, about 15 years – certainly I am an amateur at it, but I thought I’d give it a go anyway.
So, yesterday morning I took myself off to the art shop and purchased some lino squares, some lino cutters, a roller and block ink – and spent a small fortune! Then I decided to visit the op-shop on my way home and, well, you know what happened after that...
In my excitement about the canisters I posted that I planned to re-paint the kitchen, and then just as quickly decided that was just too big a project to take on in the ½ hour “spare” time I had yesterday... and instead went back to my lino-printing plans... I decided that the butterfly pic from my garden would be my inspiration.

Last night I started drawing, then carving away... still haven’t quite finished, but you see here the butterfly is taking shape in its own wonky way :)
And then today, I go into town, decide to check my mailbox (which I haven’t actually done for a week or so) and looky what I found!

Another lino butterfly has spread its wings and made it into my life! This gorgeous Betty Jo lino butterfly brooch is from Liz at Lino Forest – such a sweet and unexpected surprise Liz to find this in my mailbox. I was so touched by this gift; Thank you so much. XO .
A bit of lino butterfly synchronisation going on here don’t you think?
The funny thing is, Liz, as I was thinking of doing some lino cutting, as I was buying the lino, and then when I was actually cutting it – I was thinking of you – because now that I have discovered your work I can’t think of the word Lino without your name popping up!!!
Synchronised lino butterflies.
You gotta love that.

I love lino printing, which I did a million years ago in art at Uni. I never kept my print which was of an orchid, and I often kick myself! The expense has stopped me from doing it again, plus the assorted other tools and projects that keep me busy, or at least linger in dark spaces! Perhaps when you tire of it we could do a swap, I'm sure I have something useless you must need!
I love it when I get something unexpected in the mail! I have been ordering from Etsy a lot lately, so I have been getting some expected things in the mail and that's almost as fun! :0)
That's what I call a Betty Jo moment...lots of them have happened in the last few years.
I loved lino printing, and when either doing it or teaching it I would never forget the words of one of my art teachers..." put your Hand BEHIND the cutter!" Some kids learnt the hard way.
Still loving the Butterfly xx Liz
That's such a funny story. I spent a small fortune on lino supplies last year and used them once. I think I had rsi from all the carving. I don't remember it being so hard back in high school.
Hello Megan and friends,

Ah what perfect coincidences! Must be something in the air with lino printing....I have the itch too....
Your synchronicity is so cool. Your butterfly looks really happy. Like a big sunshiny smile. I love it.:) I googled, "butterflies synchroncity" and found this post. And it's Friday. I live a synchronistic life and I love it. :)
